Celebration of Long Service at Staff Day Out

In October, the whole team took the day off to visit Lochter Activity Centre, a few miles from the family farm, for a fun, action packed staff day out! This was to celebrate the hard work everyone has contributed over the busy summer months as well as to give everyone across the business an update on news and future plans. It was a great opportunity to get all staff together for the first time in a long time, following many Covid restrictions, and the ideal time to celebrate and appreciate the commitment from some of our long-standing members of staff.

Prior to the long service awards, challenges at the activity centre included blind-folded 4×4 driving, go-karting and clay pigeon shooting. There were many smiling faces along the way and it was great to see staff members working as a team and completing challenges together.

Presentations were given to those who have recently hit long-service milestones, many who have been with Mackie’s for over 20 and 30 years! Well done and thank you to each of those long-standing members of staff. To coincide with these recognitions, we also introduced an updated long-service rewards scheme to further thank and recognise our many members of staff who dedicate a significant portion of their working lives to the Mackie’s team.

While celebrating milestones, we also said a big thank you and farewell to Cathie and Karin who, after working at Mackie’s for 34 and 26 years, respectively, have both recently retired. Or gone on ‘permanent holiday’ as Karin prefers to refer to it! As well as organising all shows and handling many of our foodservice accounts across the country, Cathie ran our stand at the Royal Highland Show for over 30 years so we cannot thank her enough for her expertise and organisation. Karin oversaw many changes over the years, consistently channelling and conveying to consumers her vision of what Mackie’s is, helping grow the brand to the 5^th most chosen Scottish brand and Scotland’s favourite ice cream!  What a wonderful achievement for two individuals who will be greatly missed on the farm for their hard work, knowledge and personalities.

We feel proud to have so many individuals work for us for a great number of years and thank everyone, new and old, for their hard work in the business.
