We request the minimum detail of your first name, surname and email address along with your consent to receive email communications from us. This is enough for us to be able to speak to you by email. We store as a mailing list of Friends of Mackie's and we keep in touch by email. We hope to make it interesting.

The purpose is to inform you of new products and new offers and sometimes to ask for your views on our development work. We usually reward any efforts on response with the chance of some free product.

You can unsubscribe at any time – either from the link provided in one of our newsletters or by emailing mackies@mackies.co.uk. We do not share your email details with anyone else.

We do ask you to tell us more about yourself if possible. This means that we can learn about who enjoys our products and try to produce more which may be of interest. We can also work to make our information more relevant - for example you may only want to know about a promotion which is available in the store type you normally visit. Finally, we hope to be able to surprise you now and again – that’s why we ask about your birthday.

All Personal data, excepx for the Friends of Mackies / Mackies 19.2 newsletter submitted via our website is recorded in a database in the back end of the site. If you unsubscribe from the mailing lists, the record is automatically deleted from the Campaign Monitor database.

Registrants should be over 18 years or be made with consent of a parent or guardian. However, parents can be assured that all information issued by Mackie's will be family friendly.

We use Campaign Monitor to store email list and to send our newsletters. We have a DPA in place with Campaign Monitor, ensuring they are GDPR compliant.

All emails are issued with a link providing the opxion to “unsubscribe” from the database. Any request to unsubscribe is automatically actioned by the campaign monitor system which deletes the personal data from the database on receipx of the request.

The campaign monitor email system tracks how many emails are opened on receipx – because the HTML emails include a tracking pixel, which is a tiny, invisible image, that is displayed when the subscriber opens the email. When that image is downloaded from the Campaign Monitor web server, the email is recorded as being opened.

Submit a Recipe

We’d love to receive more ideas on how to enjoy ice cream – and spread the joy! This is a recipe area dedicated to desserts. We ask you to help by providing us with more recipe ideas. We need your contact details in order to contact you if we would like to publish your recipe on the website – and to send you a thank you voucher.

We request your first name, surname, email along with the recipe detail and opxional image. This information is recorded in the website database and we receive a copy by email.

We read the recipes and your data is used so that we can respond to the submitter if we’d like to use the recipe and publish it in our website recipe book. We would then request further postal detail in order to send you a reward voucher. We do not record or keep this address detail. We will ask your permission to disclose any other information e.g. whether you want to publish the recipe anonymously or to show with your name or other personal detail. We will also ask you to confirm the source of the recipe.

We delete all personal detail submitted with recipes every six months. We delete the personal data associated with any recipe submission when the agreed format has been published or deleted.

Competitions

Mackie’s make indulgent treats – both sweet and savoury and know that both Ice Cream and Chocolate can be a fun indulgence. We aim to provide a mix of fact and fun on our website and on our packs. We will offer competitions, promotions and surveys with a reward for completion. The content for each is different (and we are always pleased to hear any good suggestions for more).

We do ask for contact information when you enter the competition – because we need to be able to contact you if you win! You will only receive up to one reminder email if we do not receive a response to your congratulations/winner email.

This type of information is only held as a temporary record until up to one month after the advertised close of the competition when we contact the winners and delete the information.

We may share non-personal survey information (created from the competition answers) with others, such as our retailers, but only in aggregate anonymous form, which means that the information will not contain any personally identifiable information about you.

Some offers are made in partnership with another company, this will be obvious form the entry form – where there may be a separate “opx in” question asking for your consent to hear more from that company. If, and only if, you do give this consent, we would then pass on your contact information to them.

Competition entry Data is recorded on the database for the website.

A list of those who consent to join Friends of Mackie’s is transferred automatically to the list of emails held in Mackie’s list on Campaign Monitor.  (see Registration to join Friends of Mackie’s’ Email newsletter club contact for Mackie's Messages)

A list of those who consent to hear more from the company specified in the offer will be downloaded and transferred to the partner with password access security.

Have Your Say – Product Reviews

Thank-you to everyone who takes time out to send any messages to MACKIE'S. Some of the contact form will ask you for contact information and location information. This is used so that we can reply, send a reward or attribute the comment or submission to you where appropriate.

When you submit a review the Data is recorded on the website database. A copy is sent by email to Mackie’s of Scotland and we read the reviews & feel happy about the nice things people say. The review is sometimes shared internally at Mackie’s in our newsletter – but that is kepx anonymous with the personal data removed or restricted to the same which may be agreed with the submitter for their website review.

We select some reviews to post on the website – and will first reply to the submitter to ask if it is OK to display their review along with the submitters name and town or to agree on which format they are happy with. For example, “Honeycomb is the best ice cream I have ever tasted. It reminds me of happy childhood days. Submitted by Karin H of Edinburgh.” This is to show that they are real reviews (and not our wishful thinking or creative marketing minds). After the email exchange the original personal data is deleted.

Mackie's Moderator will look at all submissions received and you will be informed by email if we are adding it to the website. There is no guarantee that all submissions will be used. Mackie's Moderator will be final judge of whether to use any submissions for the website. No correspondence will be entered into on that topic. No response or explanation will be sent to duplicate recipes or events, or any unsuitable or offensive materials received.

Any reviews which are not used along with all the personal data submitted along with a review are deleted after 6 months.

Please ensure that you have consent of any people shown in photographs for submission to the site. Please note that we may have to ask proof of that before posting.

We don't keep your details if you choose to submit ideas or messages on the websites.
